An iconic photo of Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu, taken during the #EndSARS protest in Abuja on Saturday, immediately became moral support for Nigerians calling for the demolition of a police unit, the Special AntiRobbery Squad (SARS), known for his brutality against the citizens.
In the photo, Ms Yesufu, standing with her legs apart, threw a fist in the air symbolizing defiance and determination, regarding the #EndSARS protest.
He has a bag hanging from his chest. A group of other protesters stood a few meters behind her, pictured.
The identity of the person who took the photo is currently unknown.
"I'll tell my kids, that was our Statue of Liberty," a Twitter user said of the photo that went viral on the social media site.
A Nigerian man said he was already using the photo as a phone screensaver.
Another Twitter user, @lolajaey, who shared the photo, described Ms Yesufu as a "national treasure".
"This photo is legendary," said another Twitter user, @oluwatolz.
Now the impact of this photo inspired me to make this iconic painting.
